Rainbow Fingers
Rainbow Fingers is another part of my "Seeing Voices" Educational Programs. I call it Rainbow Fingers for many reasons. First of all, the tiny little children that I have had the pleasure to teach each have their own individual personalities, just like a box of Crayola crayons. They each make up a big beautiful scheme of color in life. There are so many songs I teach sign and sing-alongs to, that it is just so colorful, pleasing, and breath-taking as a rainbow. I feel that this program is a rainbow of knowledge, fun and respect all combined to make my dreams come true! I have been able to share Rainbow Fingers at Schools, Early Intervention Pre-school Programs, and at Community Libraries. These are extra fun because I can combine reading a book, singing, signing, making a snack and craft related to sign language, ALL in one fun filled afternoon.
On May 4, 2007, I was
invited to be the key note speaker for girls at United
Elementary School in Indiana County to talk about setting goals
and being all you can be. Sheriff Fyock, Indiana County,
with 31 years of law enforcement experience, was the speaker for
the boys. Here, students are show learning “The Pledge of
Allegiance” in Sign Language. They caught on quickly and the
guidance counselor said they will be able to spread it by performing
it as a group for a school assembly. (Mission Accomplished on
spreading sign language!)
My family hosts a "Make a Wish" Steak benefit dinner every year.
Last year we raised over $3,000. That is a lot of steak dinners to
deliver!!! On September 30, 2006, I volunteered at the Make A Wish
Fall Festival. There, I was able to share sign language and teach
songs by signing. A lot of adults were interested in learning. The
kids were so much fun. It was a great day.
I continue to provide programs at Summer Early Intervention Classes.
A sweet little girl enjoys one of my sign language cookies for a
treat
After teaching "3 Little Monkey's" in Sign, I have help
demonstrating the finished product by a student.
Both the students and I enjoy making the craft.

There were many excited and energetic pre-school children at
Pendelton's Day Care Center. I felt so welcomed. I was able to
demonstrate and teach several songs with sign language during my
Rainbow Fingers Program. I love the children so much. I think they
really liked having me there. I even received a telephone number
from a little girl asking if I would call her to talk. This really
made me feel good.
These students at the Mengle Memorial Library Story Hour caught on
quickly learning to sign "This Little Light of Mine"
We make the coolest "I love you" in sign, pins that each of the kids
get to wear home! We love doing a craft!
Here I read, "Ten Little Monkeys." just before we learned to "sign"
to the same story while we sang!
And of course, we have to have a snack!
What better way to say "I love you" than with these great cookies!
Here I am getting ready the night before at home in the kitchen.
